The year 2002 was the time she became the winning athlete in the 100-meter hurdles during the NCAA Track & Field Championship. In addition, she was a part of the runner up team for 100-meters relay. Jones won both the indoor hurdles and the outdoor hurdles events during the NCAA Championship in 2003. Jones started her track career in 2005 when she finished her university studies. In 2005, she was winning the Torino Memorial race, in 2006, she won in the Heusden and Ostrava athletes.

Brandt was born in Auckland New Zealand from Cape Town South Africa in the latter part of her the adolescent years. Brandt was noticed by casting directors from her native town, and she was offered the role of Naevia in the Starz hit Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. Lesley Brandt, along with her entire family moved into Auckland New Zealand back in 1999.
